| INDO ITALIAN SAMOSA |
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
For the filling:
- 2 cups boiled potatoes, mashed
- 1/2 cup boiled peas
- 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Oil for frying
For the dipping sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
- 1 tsp honey
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the vegetable oil and mix well with your hands, until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Slowly add the water, mixing well until the dough comes together. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and pliable. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
To make the filling, mix together the mashed potatoes, boiled peas, chopped bell peppers, grated mozzarella cheese, chopped fresh basil leaves, minced garlic, dried oregano, red chili flakes, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls. Roll each ball out into a thin circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter. Cut the circle in half to form two semi-circles.
Take one semi-circle and fold it into a cone shape, using a little water to seal the edges. Fill the cone with the potato mixture, then seal the top of the cone by using a little water to dampen the edges and press them together.
Repeat this process with the remaining dough and filling to make all the samosas.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, fry the samosas in batches until they turn golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
To make the dipping sauce, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, sriracha sauce, and honey in a small bowl.
Serve the hot samosas with the dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy!
